Patin is one of Indonesia's mainstay commodities that has the opportunity to become an industrial commodity. Opportunities for catfish industry for local consumption are very wide open, this is supported by a policy of importing catfish by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia.

located at Mina Bahari III Building Jakarta,  Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries holding a forum entitled "The Strategy of the Patin Industry Seizing Domestic and International Markets", inviting and cooperating with many parties to make a breakthrough in increasing the production of catfish cultivation, it is expected that the national patin industry can be competitive and able to dominate the domestic and international markets.

In his speech, the Director General of Strengthening Maritime Fisheries and Fisheries Product Competitiveness, Nilanto Perbowo, representing the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries said that the current patin industry shows a positive trend in export activities to countries such as China, Thailand and Latin American countries.

The East Java provincial government cooperates with PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) innovate and fully support the KKP's steps in prospering the patin farmers by launching the Dana Bergulir Loan, which is named the Hulu Hilir agromaritime Loan for the marine and fisheries sector.

In the event, Sharia Consumer Retail Director bankjatim Tony Sudjiaryanto handed over symbolically hulu hilir loan to 22 debtors from 14 groups of catfish farmers in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, for Rp. 780,000,000.

Tony Sudjiaryanto stressed that hulu hilir loan agromaritime credit, especially in the fisheries sector, was a commitment of Bankjatim to support government programs in order to improve the economy of fish farmers. "hulu hilir program is expected to be a model for other provinces to advance agro maritime in their respective regions," Tony added
