SURABAYA, February 12, 2026. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim) has officially signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Directorate General of Village and Rural Development of the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the facilitation of regional development bank services to support the acceleration of development and empowerment of village communities. Held at the Bank Jatim Head Office, the agreement was signed by the President Director of Bank Jatim Winardi Legowo and the Director General of Village and Rural Development Drs. F.X. Nugroho Setijo Nagoro, M.Si on Thursday (12/2). Also in attendance was the Regional Secretary of the East Java Provincial Government, Adhy Karyono.

Winardi explained that the synergy between Bank Jatim and the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Kemendes PDT RI) is a tangible manifestation of the company's long-term strategy to strengthen the regional economy so that it grows stronger and sustainably. "We express our gratitude for the trust from Kemendes PDT RI in Bank Jatim to participate in developing the village economy in the East Java region. Through this agreement, both parties have agreed to optimize the utilization of banking services in supporting integrated village development. Our main focus here is building a resilient and independent village economic ecosystem," he said.

The cooperation agreement covers several matters, namely the exchange of data and information, the utilization of banking products and services in accordance with applicable regulations, socialization and assistance regarding banking products and services to village communities, strengthening the role of Regional Development Banks in the context of increasing capacity for the welfare of village communities, and the utilization of the corporate social responsibility of Regional Development Banks to support the acceleration of development and empowerment of people in villages.

In its implementation, the Directorate General of Village and Rural Development acts as a facilitator for coordination across ministries, institutions, and local governments, while Bank Jatim provides support for financial services and community capacity building. "This is one of the concrete steps to strengthen the foundation of the village economy and simultaneously encourage village communities to be more literate about banking and provide access to safe financing," Winardi emphasized.

Meanwhile, Nugroho assessed that this cooperation is in line with the direction of national policy which places villages as centers of economic growth. "The village economy needs a strong ecosystem. Bank Jatim's presence here is to strengthen that, starting from literacy, financing, to increasing the distribution capacity of goods and services," he added.

In this context, Nugroho continued, literacy becomes an important factor so that village communities are able to utilize programs optimally. The selection of Bank Jatim as a main partner was not without reason. According to him, Bank Jatim has a psychological closeness and the same nature as village communities. Because in essence, regional banks belong to the regions. Thus, its contribution to building villages is considered very contextual and well-targeted.

Nugroho hopes that Bank Jatim can play an active role in providing understanding to village communities regarding business management, access to financing, and strengthening the economy based on local potential. "Collaboration with the banking sector is part of the strategy to bring together policies, assistance, and financing in one village development ecosystem," he concluded.
