SURABAYA, December 21, 2024. As a manifestation of social solidarity, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk. (bankjatim), through the Bank Jatim Runner community, once again organized its signature "running for charity" event to support the Bina Karya Mandiri Foundation. Following a successful event in Madiun recently, this social initiative was held in Surabaya. Located at the bankjatim Head Office, the donation was symbolically handed over by Director of Operations Arif Suhirman—who also serves as the Mentor Director for the Work-Life Balance (WLB) Bank Jatim Runner—and Director of Micro, Retail, and Medium Business R. Arief Wicaksono on Saturday morning (21/12). The event was also attended by Director of Risk Management Eko Susetyono.

Starting from the Bank Jatim Head Office, the event titled “Jatimers Run To Care” was attended by "Jatimers" (Bank Jatim employees) from all branches, divided into two categories: 5K and 10K. The activity commenced with the symbolic handover of donations to the foundation, followed by the official flag-off for the runners.

Attended by hundreds of participants, the runners were highly enthusiastic as they traversed the main protocol roads of Surabaya in the early morning. The route began at Jalan Basuki Rahmat, passed through Jalan Embong Malang, and continued to the iconic Jalan Tunjungan. After a brief stop at the Water Station in front of Hotel Mojopahit, participants continued past Gedung Negara Grahadi and paused for a group photo at the Governor Suryo Statue. The runners then passed the Bambu Runcing monument before finishing back at the Bank Jatim Head Office.

During the event, Arif Suhirman stated that this activity is a form of empathy from Jatimers toward those in need. According to him, running together on weekends has become a popular lifestyle choice. ”Running alone is common, but it is far more positive when we can run while also donating. Alhamdulillah, the enthusiasm from Jatimers today to exercise while supporting those in need has been extraordinary,” he remarked.

Arif expressed hope that this activity would further inspire Jatimers, noting that "a strong soul resides within a healthy body." He believes that a healthy and spiritually strong workforce will have a positive impact on company performance. ”Participants are expected not only to focus on physical health but also to contribute to social campaigns for the community. Thus, Jatimers Run To Care serves as an event where individual participation can create meaningful change for the community,” he concluded.
