SURABAYA, 28 April 2025. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim), through Bank Jatim Kediri Branch, successfully received an award in the field of MSME strengthening from the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) East Java at the Peak Reception of National Press Day 2025 and the 79th Anniversary of PWI East Java. Located at the Grahadi State Building, the award was presented by the Chairman of PWI East Java, Lutfil Hakim, and received by the Head of Bank Jatim Kediri Branch, Slamet Masduki, on Monday evening (28/4). Also present to witness the event were the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and the Director of Compliance of Bank Jatim, Umi Rodiyah.
Umi explained that the MSME sector will continue to be Bank Jatim's main focus in an effort to boost regional economic growth. As one of the national economic pillars, MSMEs have a major contribution to creating jobs and improving community welfare, especially in the East Java region. Therefore, Bank Jatim is committed to continually supporting the development of MSMEs through various micro-financing programs that are designed to provide easier and more affordable access to financing for small entrepreneurs.
"In order to strengthen credit distribution for MSMEs, we are also actively collaborating with various parties, including local governments and other financial institutions. This collaboration aims to ensure the smooth distribution of credit and increase synergy in MSME development programs," she stated.
According to Umi, broader and more structured capital support is expected to encourage the growth of the MSME sector, create more jobs, and contribute to sustainable economic growth in East Java. Bank Jatim Kediri Branch itself is also consistent in distributing micro-credit for MSMEs. This is evidenced by the outstanding value of Bank Jatim Kediri Branch's credit distribution being the largest among other Bank Jatim branches, reaching approximately Rp 529 billion as of April 24, 2025. The highest contributing sectors are trade, agriculture, and processing industry.
"Therefore, we would like to thank the stakeholders and shareholders for the support given to Bank Jatim so far, and also thank PWI East Java for the award. We hope this award can be a motivation for us to further improve our performance so that we can contribute positively to the Indonesian economy, especially in East Java," she concluded.
On that occasion, Lutfil Hakim also said that the commemoration of HPN and the 79th Anniversary of PWI is not merely a celebration, but a reflection to increase the spirit in the world of journalism. The HPN commemoration must be interpreted with efforts to improve journalistic work and expand journalistic content writing. Because according to him, many things have not been raised yet. "Many things have not been exposed, such as agriculture. Let's take advantage of this by filling in positive content and news that can enlighten and build the nation," he explained.
Meanwhile, in her address, Governor Khofifah conveyed that the theme of this year's HPN is aligned with President Prabowo Subianto's major program, which is how to achieve food security. Thus, the press is expected to play a role in maintaining, guarding, and realizing food security for national self-sufficiency. "We certainly hope that in East Java, the government and the press will build more concrete synergy and collaboration to realize food self-sufficiency. Because today, East Java is already producing the largest amount of rice in Indonesia, and its land area is still the largest in Indonesia for now," she concluded.
