Caring for the Environment, Bank Jatim Donated 17,845 Mangrove Seedlings

SURABAYA, OCTOBER 31, 2023. As a form of concern for the environment, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) has officially handed over Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance to the East Java Provincial Forestry Service in the form of mangrove rehabilitation assistance. Located at Romokalisari Adventure Land, the assistance was symbolically handed over by bankjatim Operations Director Arif Suhirman to the Head of the Provincial Forestry Service. East Java Jumadi and also witnessed directly by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa on Tuesday (31/10). Not only the submission of CSR, on this occasion bankjatim also received an award from the Governor of East Java for supporting the preservation of mangrove ecosystems that have been carried out.
Arif explained, CSR assistance in the form of a planting program of 17,845 mangrove seedlings is an effort to rehabilitate critical land and mangrove ecosystems in East Java. The goal is to support ecosystem recovery and increase the carrying capacity of watersheds through reforestation and mangrove rehabilitation. "In addition, it is also for community empowerment in the forestry sector," he said.

According to Arif, this is a form of bankjatim's concern in building and protecting the environment, especially in East Java. "bankjatim will always be present to serve the community and contribute to the recovery and improvement of mangrove ecosystems in East Java, especially on the coast," he said. The thousands of mangrove seedlings will later be planted in the Koarmada II area.
Meanwhile, Khofifah in her speech said that of all the mangroves in Java, 50 percent are in East Java. According to the number one person in East Java, this can happen because of the hard work of all of us. "These mangrove activists are extraordinary, they know no day, no time and continue to move. And that is what then becomes the buffer of all our shorelines. Therefore, let us together provide benefits to the surrounding environment. Apart from planting, we must also be able to downstream mangroves to provide added value," he said.
